Paul Bunyan's Axe
Every year the Badgers play the Gophers in football for the coveted Paul Bunyan's Axe
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bunyan%27s_Axe) . Mike and I have a 10 year tradition of going to the game every year no matter where it is played. Even though it was predicted to be a blowout this year, Mike allowed me to visit. We also have a trophy of our own to play for every year. The Trophy started in the fourth year when Aaron Zimmerman left a single can of grain belt beer in my fridge after the game. It stayed in there for a year until the next season when I tried to return it to him. It was then we decided to make it our own traveling trophy that the winner gets to keep for the season. The badgers have won 8 out of the last 10 meetings. Heather is ready for the Gophers to win so she doesn't have to look at this for another year.
Mike and his sister Rachel in good spirits before the game.
This year we attended a tailgating party held by Mike's friend Brian Anderson (aka: Football). This is Mr. Football himself, showing off his beer goggles and dance moves shortly before the start of the game.
Here is the group after the game. We might have had a few beverages between the start and end of the day.

As for the game. It ended up being a tightly contested match. The gophers took the early lead but the badgers fought back. The badgers managed to allow the worst offensive team in division I football to get 34 points. Luckily the Gophers defense wasn't present that day and allowed the Badgers to get 41 points.
So I retain the Trophy for the next year. The next time the Badgers play the Gophers in Minnesota they will have their new outdoor football stadium. Hopefully for Mike, this will start to give them a home field advantage.

Packer vs Viking
The Packers played the Vikings for the second time this year. We have a habit of splitting the two games with them every year. We won this year at the Metrodome (or the inflatable toilet as my friend Mike calls it... and he is a Viking fan) so I thought it would be a good game. We watched the game at our house. We had 4 Viking fans: Mike, Shawn, Jesse and his baby Nolan. They were all decked out in there Viking gear. Hoping to watch their star rookie running back tear up the field. Fate had other plans. Isaac, Heather, and I rooted the Packers to a convincing win. The Packers won 34-0.
Mike and Nolan before the start of the game with their hopes high.I went upstairs for a moment. When I came back down Isaac was in this state. Mike calmly explained that Isaac started crying and could only be calmed by wearing Viking gear. The shirt says "Packers Suck" on it. Notice that Mike had to put a finger in Isaac's mouth to prevent him from crying out against the falsehood. Isaac was wearing his Packer gear for the first time but we forgot to take a picture. Forgive us, we will get one next week.
Isaac & Stanley enjoying the fall season
Isaac in a pile of leaves that just happened to have some pumpkins in it. Hmmm do you think this shot was planned. Heather loves to set the scene with Isaac.
A close up without his hat. Don't worry he was only outside for about 2 minutes.
Badgers vs Wolverines
Shawn, my dad, me, and Mike consuming a few beverages before the game. The Madison students always drink in style! Meet the Octobong. A two story beer bong with 8 outlets to drink.
This game was also host to the retirement of Ron Dayne's jeresy. I remembered how much fun it was to watch him play when they showed clips of his career. AAHH the glory years. The unveiling of the jersey!
The man himself, talking to reporters after the ceremony.
Oh yeah, there was a game also. We beat Michigan 37 to 21. I haven't seen many victories over the wolverines in my years as a Badger fan. The Badgers had control of the game until the 3rd quarter when we let them back into the game with the help of the refs. Thankfully they had a freshman QB who helped us by taking some sacks and throwing the ball to us. Go Badgers!

More Friends and Family
Our friend Chad holding Isaac
My brother Tyler holding Isaac moments before he became Isaac's first victim. Isaac being an overachiever in the waste disposal department, exceeded the holding capacity for liquid in his diaper and deposited the remaining on my brothers shirt.
My brother Matt holding Isaac and happy because he wasn't the one who got drenched with urine.
Isaac watching my Dad and rooting for the Packers. Because of Isaac's help the Packers won 33-22 over the Chiefs. This was the last team that Brett Farve needed to beat to have won against every team in the league.
Isaac fell asleep during his burp time with Dad.
