Busted!

I was getting ready one morning when I heard a strange noise coming from the spare bedroom. I found Isaac attempting a getaway from the scene of the crime. Apparently, he was practicing unwrapping Christmas Presents. He torn up some of the paper and then made a beeline for the door.
Oopps, dad caught me.
Stanley, you were suppose to be my lookout. No more food from the highchair for you.

Margo's Suprise Birthday Party

Gary planned a surprise birthday party for Margo's 55th birthday.

Here are my parents wheeling the grand kids around in a radio flyer wagon.

Isaac holding on so that he doesn't fall out. Not that there was any chance of that happening.

Fun in the Sun!

Grandpa and Nonnie (Grandma Jacob) bought a neat little water toy for Isaac. It sprays water in a circle that he can play in. When I first put him in there he gasped because the water was cold and started to cry. Grandpa came to the rescue and attached the hose to a indoor faucet where he made the water warm for Isaac. Now, I know I am getting old and losing some of my childhood memories but I can pretty much guarantee that my parents never attached a sprinkler to a warm water faucet so that it wouldn't be too cold. This is not the first sign that Isaac is going to be spoiled by both sets of grandparents, only the most recent.

Isaac enjoying his water jail. When he was ready to crawl out the water kept squirting him in the face so he would move back into the center of the circle. After about five attempts to leave the circle he started getting frustrated. I helped him out by blocking the water from hitting him in the face so he could escape. Freedom!
While the grandparents were watching Isaac we got to slip away and enjoy the sun on the Mississippi river. Here is Heather lounging in the sun.
Mike and Alicia joined us for a few beverages, tunes, sun, and a few more beverages.
Alicia's sister Melinda and her dog Maggie also made there first trip to Onalaska and boating on the Mighty Miss.

Maggie drying off after a dip in the river. She managed to soak the entire back half of the boat with her version of the twist. Melinda was not quite quick enough with the towel.
Mike and I at the sand bar. Can you tell where I forgot to put sunscreen. Hint: Look for the extremely red areas around my neck. Plus, checkout that farmer's tan.
After about 4 hours on the river we received a call from Gary and Margo's neighbors saying their boat broke down and they needed a tow back to the docks. "Team Sunburn" to the rescue. Here is the boat we were towing. When we originally arrived to help them a police water cruiser arrived right before us and started towing them. So we thought our services were no longer needed so we hit the sandbar for a while. After about 30 minutes we hit the river to head back home. Just as we were approaching the Cass Street bridge, which divides Minn. from Wisc. we received another phone from the stranded boat saying the police cut them lose and they needed a tow the rest of the way. Apparently the police's jurisdiction ended at the river, so they just gave up. Why don't they do that with speeding tickets?

All of us relaxing while we strolled down the Mississippi towing another boat of merrymakers.

Motorcycles or Art, you be the judge

The past weekend we were in LaCrosse/Onalaska to go boating with Mark and Carol. While we were there we went to a motorcycle exhibition put on by S & E cycles. People came from all over the world to design motorcycles for the competition. Jay Leno and the guys from Orange County Choppers were their along with many others. Here are some of the bikes we say at the contest. The artwork on some of these cycles are truly amazing.
This one was called Spider Bike. It had webbing designs all over the bike. Spiderman would be much cooler if he rode a bike like this. It would also be cool if he was really existed.
I thought this bike had the most intricate and fantastic artwork on it. It was all skulls and bones which is appropriate since riding a motorcycle is highly dangerous.

No, this is not one of the cycles built at the show. This finely tuned machine is Mark B Meyer. (Sorry ladies he is taken) Mark is showing off his first fish of the day, a Sunfish. Which is ironic since there was very little sun that weekend.

Mark's second fish of the day. Much bigger than his first, this one is a sheepshead ( a type of carp). Mark caught a total of two fish, which is two more than I caught. I didn't help that it was windy and we didn't have any weights to attach to our lines. We had to wait for the line to slowly sink to the bottom. All in all, we had a good time that weekend even if the weather didn't cooperate.

Crash Test Issac

Isaac in his speedboat and helmet ready to cruise down the river and pick up some chicks.
Its hard to tell from this picture but Isaac is rocking back and forth and was coincidentally making noises that sounded like a boat.

Boating Fun, Now Where is the Sun?

Mark and Carol went with us to Onalaska to enjoy the summer weather boating on the Black and Mississippi Rivers. They did this last year with us only to have crappy weather and little time on the boat. This time would be different....or maybe not. We got on the boat around 1pm on Saturday. Within the first 5 minutes it proceeded to rain. Luckily, after the rain stopped the sun came out for a little bit. Still not the gorgeous weather we were hoping for that weekend. Someday we will take them boating and we will get good weather.

Mark excited that the sun finally came out!

Even though it was only OK weather it didn't prevent us from drinking a beverage or four.

We came back from boating to find that my parents had broken a cardinal rule and put Isaac in sandals with socks on. We laughed to ourselves because friends of ours had just sent out an email pointing this fashion no no out to everyone. The best part was our friend Matt, who sent the email out, is a habitual offender of this rule.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens

The Brazilians enjoying the nature of Wisconsin, which of course, included being eaten alive by mosquitoes. At one point we were actually jogging through the gardens to avoid being swarmed by the blood sucking insects.
I have always loved waterfalls and fountains.
Flowering Lilly pads. It was interesting to see green growth on the water that wasn't a stinky algae bloom in Lake Mendota.
I was amazed that our relatively simple digital camera was able to take such great pictures.

Isaac enjoying all the pretty flowers and watching Daddy smack the crap out of himself as he tries to kill all the mosquitoes.

Concert on the Square with Brazilian Flavor

Annette playing with Isaac on the beautiful summer night.

Isaac- happy with his success in crawling away from the picnic blanket. Heather and I love the fact that Isaac can crawl but it makes it hard to be able to sit for more than 30 seconds without have to get him before he pulls something down on top of him.

Swim Lessons!

Isaac is taking swim lessons. What do they do for infants at swim lessons you ask? Basically you are just getting them used to the water and teaching them to hold their breath when you dunk them under the water. Isaac loves water in general, so it was a pretty safe bet that he would like swim lessons.
Teaching him how to get out of the pool. Elbow, Elbow, Tummy, Knee, Knee, just in case anyone needs practice.
Teaching him how to hop off the edge of the pool and hold his breath.
He is getting more comfortable with the pool. He went under water for the first time on his third class. He is now putting his own face in the pool or bath tub. Granted, he still comes up choking on water but he doesn't get upset, which is a start.
