Site of the 1972 Summer Olympics Games. The Games were marred by what has come to be known as the Munich massacre. On September 5 a group of eight Palestinian terrorists belonging to the Black September organization broke into the Olympic Village and took eleven Israeli athletes hostage in their apartment, killing two of the hostages in the apartment after fighting back; the subsequent standoff in the Olympic Village lasted for almost 18 hours. This picture is the main center for the games.
Here is the main stadium for the games. The grounds have changed since the games. As you can tell in the picture there is a big Ferris wheel and carnival on the grounds. All the pictures of the Olympic grounds were taken from the TV tower on the grounds.
A picture of the Alps in the distance. The highest mountain in the Alps is Mont Blanc, at 4,808 metres (15,774 ft), on the Italian-French border. This may or may not be a picture of Mont Blanc. Dan thinks it was, but we have no conformation of that fact.
This is a hill within the Olympic grounds. The hill was constructed by taking debris from World War II destruction of Munich and making a pile and covering it with dirt.
BMW is coming out with a hydrogen car. The exhaust is water vapor. Really cool and great for the environment. A good start but this probably won't be in the average person garage with a price tag over $100,000.
A beer garden near the English Garden. It was empty when we got there but by the time we left all the seats were filled. I estimate that about 5,000 people were drinking beer.
Our first liters of beer. Dan choose a Radler, which is half beer and half lemonade. Refreshing but I don't think I could drink an entire liter of it.
